What is a doula?
A doula is a trained support person who walks alongside you during pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood. While your medical team takes care of the medical side of birth, a doula focuses on the support side. A doula’s job is to help you feel informed, calm, comfortable, and heard.
A doula will be there to offer encouragement, breathing and relaxation techniques, comfort measures, helpful positions, and guidance as you navigate your birth experience. Doulas do not replace your doctor or nurse, deliver your baby, or make medical decisions for you. Instead, they are there to provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support so you and your family feel confident and cared for throughout the journey.
My Approach to supporting your birth
As your doula, I strive to offer a gentle, compassionate, and supportive presence throughout your birth experience. No matter what your ideal birth looks like, I will meet you where you are and support you in the choices that feel right for you and your family. I believe birth can be a beautiful and empowering experience, regardless of the path you choose.
My support begins well before labor. Together, we can explore your hopes, preferences, questions, and concerns so that you feel informed and prepared as you approach your birth. During labor, I’ll be there to offer comfort and encouragement, help you navigate pain and anxiety, and support you in advocating for yourself and your baby.
Most of all, I want you to feel confident in your ability to give birth in the way that is right for you. My hope is that you enter your birth experience feeling informed, supported, and empowered—not because you know exactly how everything will unfold, but because you trust yourself and know you won’t have to navigate it alone.
